Beat the Spring Lull with These Blooms!

Don't let your garden go green-only! 😅

Beat the Spring Lull
with These Blooms

It's easy being green this time of year, but your garden can do so much more!

As the colorful display of early spring bulbs fades away, many gardens fall into a mid-spring color gap, before the summer perennials really light up the garden. At the same time, hungry pollinators are waking up, which means that adding more flowering plants is a win-win.

Here are 32 perennials, trees, and shrubs that commonly bloom from mid-April to mid-May in Central Illinois, right when your garden might be looking strictly green:

A pollinator-friendly landscape works best when something is always coming into bloom, and it's beautiful to look at, as well! If your yard is strictly green right now, put a few of these plants in the mix to liven up the mid-spring lull.

Happy gardening!🌸
