Introducing our
Tried & True shrubs!
This week, we are thrilled to introduce a new addition to our Tried & True lineup: Hoerr Nursery Tried & True shrubs! Building upon the success of our fantastic line of Tried & True Trees, we're expanding our selection to include shrubs that meet the Hoerr Nursery Tried & True criteria.

The Hoerr Nursery Tried & True designation means three things:
1. Hands-on experience: We have years of experience with the plant's landscape performance.
2. Local resilience: These shrubs have proven their ability to thrive in the Central Illinois area, requiring minimal fuss and attention.
3. Natural allure: Each designated shrub possesses inherent beauty, making it an aesthetically pleasing addition to any landscape.
Some of these shrubs are popular, but many of them deserve more widespread planting. Here are just a few examples:
Staff favorite! A disease-free variety of redtwig dogwood that features scarlet autumn leaves and bright red winter twigs. Prune out the oldest branches each year for the brightest twig color.
While the mugo species has a reputation for slowly outgrowing the landscape it’s planted in, ‘Slowmound’ is a true dwarf pine, typically only two feet high and wide after ten years
Great in any small sunny spot where you want a splash of year-round greenery!
A low growing shrub with multi-season interest that spreads over time. Bears spikes of honey-scented, white, bottlebrush type flowers in spring. Blue-gray leaves unfurl afterward, blazing with fall color in autumn.
A tiny and trouble free rose, great for the front of the boarder or along walkways.
The star performer of the Drift rose series, Red Drift pumps out tons of bright red blooms from spring through frost! Standing only 18" tall, Red Drift makes a great foreground plant in mixed plantings.
