Unusual Promotion to Sell Trees at Hoerr Nursery
Wednesday, August 27, 2008Peoria, IL. – Hoerr Nursery celebrated its 250,000 tree sold last year and this year brings outstanding weather for ideal tree growth.
“Although this summer was a bit demanding for some of our production,” said Bryon Rinkenberger, Nursery and Green Team Manager, “it has been ideal for trees.”
To move hundreds of trees, the nursery is launching two big initiatives:
The first is: 40-60% off Balled & Burlapped (Spring dug) Trees – including evergreens. Starting 8/18/08. First come; first serve. While supplies last.
The second is: $49 TREE DEAL. This is the more unusual of the promotions. Rinkenberger’s goal is to clear out a block of trees at Hoerr Nursery’s Brimfield Tree Farm, so he has reduced the price on all available trees in this block to $49 plus the Hoerr Nursery Tree Spade Planting charge. (Sale period: 8/25-8/30/08)
“We have hundreds of trees included in this sale, including some 5.5” diameter trunk trees. Which means the customer can get a tree valued at about $1100 for only $49. They need to pay the Tree Spade Planting charge of $490—which they would have to pay anyway if the tree were full price.” Rinkenberger will be at the Hoerr Nursery Brimfield Tree Farm on Aug 28, 29, and 30th during store hours so customers can select the tree of their choice. “We are expecting these trees to go quickly. These are big, beautiful trees. They may not be perfect looking—that’s why we are selling them at this price; but they are great healthy trees,” said Rinkenberger. Hoerr Nursery has several tree spades which will be used to complete the installation of these trees at the customers’ locations. An exact installation date cannot be guaranteed due to the expected popularity of this promotion. The tree spade plantings will be completed as quickly as possible.
“We’ve got an experienced crew to handle the tree spade plantings,” said Rinkenberger. “And, we’ll get them done as quickly, but luckily with the tree spade, we can plant trees anytime the ground isn’t frozen, so we’ll have plenty of time.”
