Jamieson School Gets New Tree for Earth Day

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Peoria, IL – Hoerr Nursery donated and planted a Red Bud tree at Robert A. Jamieson School on Friday, April 17 to commemorate Earth Day and to celebrate a 16-year relationship the nursery has with the Peoria public school. Over the years, Hoerr Nursery has planted over 10 trees at Jamieson.

“We have a deep relationship with Jamieson, our Adopt-A-School partner,” said Dave Ploussard, Hoerr Nursery Garden Center Manager. “Students visit our nursery during the year for hands-on activities. We bring projects to the school, and we have a mutual love of nature. By donating and planting this tree we express our appreciation for the school. And, it’s a natural fit to involve the students to celebrate Earth Day.”

Earth Day is Wed., April 22. During the week of Earth Day Hoerr Nursery will conclude it spring edition of its popular series of Gardening 101, free and open to the public. Sign up is encouraged: 309-691-4561. The topic for April 23 & 25 - Trees: How to pick the perfect tree.
